It’s time for Inside Jersey’s popular Jersey’s Best Home Chefs contest where IJ foodies get to show off their cooking chops. So get ready to nominate the person you think is a great home chef. And if that person just happens to be you, no problem. You’re permitted to nominate yourself.

How do I nominate a Best Home Chef?
1. Send us the name of your nominee. Include his or her contact information (name, address, daytime phone number and e-mail address so we can alert them if they’re a finalist).

2. Tell us in one short paragraph why you think this person is one of Jersey’s Best Home Chefs.

3. Submit one of your nominee’s best recipes in one of three categories:
appetizer, entrée or dessert.

4. Remember to include your own contact information (name, address, daytime phone number and e-mail address) in case we have a question about your entry. All contact information is for our purposes only.

What happens next?
One of our professional chef judges will select nine finalists (three each for appetizers, entrées and desserts) based on the recipes submitted. The finalists will be asked to bring their signature dishes to the Classic Thyme Cooking School, 710 South Ave., Westfield, on Tuesday, Oct.14, where they will be judged by area top chefs.

What our food experts will look for in recipe submissions:
•Creativity
•Authenticity
•Cooking from scratch
•Use of fresh ingredients,
with limited reliance on
prepackaged food
